Edwards Duthie were successful in obtaining a costs award against the Crown Prosecution Service for just over £13,000 following our clients’ acquittal in Crown Court proceedings. Both had been accused of stealing monies from an elderly relative.
Edwards Duthie were recently successful in securing an acquittal in a very serious drugs trial conducted at Blackfriars Crown Court. The Defendant was charged with being concerned with the fraudulent importation of heroin and cocaine said to be in the region of approximately £25m.
It would have caught most people’s notice that the famous entertainer, Ant McPartlin, was recently fined £86,000 having pleaded guilty to drink -driving. This was a record in terms of being the largest fine ever imposed for an offence of this kind.
