Bernie was admitted as a solicitor in June 1980 after joining Duthie, Hart and Duthie as a trainee in 1978. He became a Partner in the firm in 1982. He continued as a Partner at the newly formed Edwards Duthie.

Bernie is an experienced advocate in criminal and civil proceedings. He has been instructed in criminal cases of all levels including organised crime, drugs supply and importation, multi-million pound frauds, extortion and in excess of 20 murder cases. He has prosecuted on behalf of the National Probation Service and the Port of London Authority in the Magistrates and Crown Courts.
In addition to his vast criminal experience, he has growing child care case load, working for local authorities, the NSPCC, parents and children.
Additional work includes defending professionals before Disciplinary Tribunals (including the GMC) and licensing work.
